My name is Jon McCormick. I am a wheelbuilder working out of a private studio in Minneapolis, MN.
In 2017 I founded Spice with the simple mission of delivering exceptional build quality to riders of the Twin Cities. Having previously worked several years in a high volume wheel factory, I had often daydreamed about all the different hub and rim combinations that could make truly unique bicycles. When I began to work independently, I found there was no shortage of cyclists in need of custom wheels. BMX kids, roadies, mountain bikers, party pacers, you name it. Everyone had a need for high quality wheels, no matter the discipline.
To me, cycling not only represents freedom and sustainability, but also simplicity and utilitarian function. There are few better examples of this than the spoked wheel. As a wheelbuilder, my goal is to provide insight into the world of upgrades, offer repair and setup services, and abide by industry leading labor standards.
